Nathan (Naftali) Berger left Ukraine in 189? to start a new life in America. In 1900, only 17 years old, Tillie (Antonia) Eisenberg left the same locale in Ukraine to come here with her married sister Bessie.

Tillie and Nathan, both living in the Lower East Side of New York, "connected" through her sister. They married in January 1902 and had four children.
